Whether in freeform curves to create pathways through a garden, to follow the contours of pavement, or to act as a retaining wall for soil, steel provides both flow and rigidity to landscape design.
Here, the difference in elevation between two yards created a flow of dirt over the lower yard. Using 3/16″ x 12″, I created a retaining wall with a right angle welded to match the corner of the yard. As the rest of the yard had a significantly lower level of soil, I cut an angle in the steel to meet up with the 4″ tall edging that followed the rest of the paved space (see other photos).
